According to Campbell McAlpine, 'Jesus is the greatest leader who ever walked the earth'. She has described about leadership in the book that tiltel is 'The Leadership of Jesus';

Jesus came to serve and to love and to live in what he taught. He set a perfect example in everything. He taught us to pray. By revealing his own heart in so many ways, he revealed the heart of God. Some of those revelations came from what he said as well as what he did. As we read John 17, we see his love, his desires and his prayers for his disciples, and a demonstration of how leaders should lead. It is very import!ant that we continue to get to know him better and better, so that we can learn to imitate him.

Requirements of a Leader

We have seen how Jesus fulfilled all the requirements of a caring leader by:

1.His intimate relationship with the Father.

The Lord Jesus was the most secure person who ever walked on the earth. One of the reasons for this was his intimate relationship with God, His Father.

Now, as He gives account of His leadership in John 17, He looks to heaven and says, “Father”.  With all that lay ahead of Him He was secure in the knowledge that God loved Him:

John 5:20 For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, to your amazement he will show him even greater things than these.

John 5:19 Jesus gave them this answer: 'I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.

17:1 After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: 'Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you.

17:5 And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.

17:11 Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name--the name you gave me--so that they may be one as we are one.

17:24 'Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.

17:25 'Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me.

Matt 26:39 'My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.'

Matt 26:42 'My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done.'
