Esther

A tragic incident unfolded in Mogadishu on Tuesday when a car bomb exploded at a checkpoint, resulting in the deaths of ten individuals.

According to Somali police, the casualties included "seven security force officers, two civilians, and a suicide bomber." The explosion occurred as security personnel attempted to halt the speeding vehicle at the checkpoint.

The al-Shabaab Islamist terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attack. This group, which controls various areas in Somalia, has been known for its repeated assaults on government facilities, hotels, and restaurants in Mogadishu.

Despite being pushed back from the capital in recent years, al-Shabaab continues to pose a huge threat, condemning Western lifestyles as un-Islamic and targeting establishments that embody such lifestyles.
