In a tragic incident that has left the Olorisaoko community in Akinyele Local Government Area of Ibadan, Oyo State, in shock and confusion, a 14-year-old boy named Malik Kareem was reportedly beheaded for ritual purposes.

The gruesome event occurred on Saturday evening, August 10, 2024, and has since drawn significant attention from both local residents and authorities.

According to multiple sources, Malik Kareem, along with three of his friends, had contacted a Muslim cleric for a money ritual. Unbeknownst to Malik, his friends had conspired with the cleric to use him as a sacrifice for the ritual.

Upon arriving at the designated location, Malik was strangulated, beheaded, and subsequently cremated. The cleric, whose identity remains undisclosed, fled the scene immediately after the act.

The Oyo State Police Command has launched an investigation into the incident. SP Adewale Osifeso, the command’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed that the police are aware of the situation and are working diligently to bring the perpetrators to justice. He assured the public that updates on the investigation would be provided once available.

The aftermath of the incident saw heightened tensions within the community.

Some unidentified youths also set the cleric's house ablaze in retaliation.
