Chief of Staff to the President, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila has announced that the Federal Government's 2025 budget will be driven by a comprehensive needs assessment.
This strategic approach aims to optimize resource allocation by prioritizing essential projects and agencies, ensuring alignment with the administration's Renewed Hope Agenda.
Gbajabiamila emphasized the importance of prioritization in light of limited resources, stating, "In any country in the world, resources are limited. For us, it is about prioritizing. Where are we so far? What have the agencies done? How have they measured up to their mandates and how important are their mandates in terms of the vision of this administration and the Renewed Hope Agenda?"
This statement signifies the administration's commitment to directing funds towards actual requirements, thereby optimizing the use of limited resources.
The Chief of Staff raised concerns about the current funding and performance of various government agencies, questioning their effectiveness in fulfilling their mandates. He suggested that some agencies might face mergers or even dissolution if they are found to be underperforming.
"A lot of agencies are not properly funded. Do we merge some of these agencies, or do we scrap some? I’m not talking about the State House agencies. In 2025 we are not going to budget in a vacuum. We will budget based on needs assessment," Gbajabiamila added.
