Adamawa State Government has allocated N1.6 billion for the purchase of 25 new Innoson pickup vans dedicated to security agencies.
This significant investment was approved during the 18th State Executive Council meeting, presided over by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri at the Government House in Yola.
The Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Mr. Iliya James, emphasized the necessity of this decision, stating, "Despite our efforts to reduce crime significantly over the past years, there are still pockets of criminal activities that need to be addressed.
This approval is part of our ongoing commitment to reinforce our security agencies."
The newly acquired vehicles are expected to enhance the operational capacity of security forces, enabling them to respond more effectively to security challenges across the state.
This initiative is part of a broader strategy to ensure the safety and well-being of residents in Adamawa.
In addition to addressing security concerns, the state is also tackling an outbreak of contagious livestock diseases reported in several local government areas.
The Commissioner of Livestock Development, Tijjani Maksha, noted that "steps have been taken to mitigate the spread, including sending samples for testing to a laboratory in Jos."
