Nigeria's Super Eagles were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw by Rwanda in a tightly contested match at the Stade Amahoro in Kigali during their second match of the 2025 TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Despite having ball possession with 50.9 percent compared to Rwanda's 49.9 percent, Nigeria failed to capitalize on their opportunities.

The Amavubi dominated the opening minutes, but the Super Eagles soon took control, with Ademola Lookman posing massive threats to the Rwandan defense. In the 20th minute, Lookman was put through on goal by midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, only for his shot to be saved by Rwanda's goalkeeper Ntwari Fiacre.

Just three minutes later, Lookman found the net, but his goal was controversially disallowed by the referee. Victor Boniface also came close, hitting the woodwork nine minutes before halftime after being set up by Lookman.

Despite several changes made by caretaker coach Augustine Eguavoen in the second half, the match ended goalless. The result keeps Nigeria at the top of Group D with four points from two matches.

Reacting to the draw, the Super Eagles expressed their determination to bounce back in their upcoming fixtures. "FT in Kigali Rwanda 0-0 Nigeria. 4 points from two and we go again next month," they tweeted, thanking fans for their support.
