American singer Enisa Nikaj, who gained significant fame and support from Nigerian fans, is now facing backlash for allegedly unfollowing all the Nigerian influencers who helped her rise to stardom. This includes prominent Nigerian artist Davido, who collaborated with her on the hit remix of "Love Cycle."
Enisa, born in Brooklyn, New York to Albanian parents, first captured the hearts of Nigerians during the EndSARS protests in October 2020. Her vocal support for the movement and her numerous tweets and retweets endeared her to many Nigerians, who in turn boosted her social media following and streaming numbers. She even adopted the Nigerian name "Eniola" as a tribute to her Nigerian fans.
However, recent reports suggest that Enisa has unfollowed all the Nigerian influencers who played a crucial role in her success.

This news has sparked outrage among her Nigerian fanbase, who feel betrayed by the singer's actions. The controversy has been trending on X, formerly known as Twitter, with many fans expressing their disappointment.
One fan tweeted, "This is the first time I ever trended on Twitter, this is crazy," reflecting the initial excitement Enisa felt when she first gained popularity among Nigerians. Now, that excitement has turned into disillusionment for many.

Enisa's journey to fame began with her viral cover of David Guetta and Sia's "Titanium," which garnered millions of views. Her single "Love Cycle" released in 2020, went viral particularly among Nigerian fans, leading her to adopt the name "Eniola." She later collaborated with Davido on the remix of the song, further cementing her popularity in Nigeria.
Despite her initial success and the overwhelming love from Nigerian fans, the recent developments have left many feeling let down. As one fan put it, "Nigerians make up most of her 295,000 Twitter followers. How could she just unfollow everyone like that?"
