Ruben Amorim is poised to become the permanent manager of Manchester United starting from November 11, 2024. This decision follows the club's recent dismissal of Erik ten Hag after a disappointing start to the season, which saw United languishing in 14th place in the Premier League with only three wins from nine matches.
Amorim, who has been the head coach of Sporting CP, led the Lisbon club to their first league title in 19 years in 2021 and repeated this success last season.

Manchester United has reportedly agreed to meet Amorim's release clause of 10 million euros ($11 million), as confirmed by Sporting in a statement to the Lisbon stock exchange.
Despite speculation that he would be announced as the new manager earlier, Amorim has remained tight-lipped about his future, promising clarification after Sporting's match against Estrela on Friday. He is expected to stay with Sporting for their next three games before officially taking charge at United.
Amorim's appointment comes amid high expectations, given his reputation as one of the rising stars in European football coaching. His first match as United's manager is likely to be against Ipswich on November 24.
Meanwhile, Ruud van Nistelrooy, a former star striker and assistant coach at United, is serving as the interim manager. Van Nistelrooy has expressed his eagerness to help the club during this transitional period and will oversee the team for the remaining games before the international break.
