Arewa Youths Protest in Jos, Demand Crude Supply to Dangote Refinery

The streets of Jos witnessed a significant protest led by the Arewa Youth Congress of Nigeria (AYCN).

The demonstrators were vocal about their demand for the supply of domestic crude oil to the Dangote Refinery.

This protest was aimed at urging key players in the oil industry to ensure that the refinery receives the necessary crude to operate efficiently.

The protesters marched to the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority's Jos Field Office, carrying placards with various inscriptions such as "Anybody fighting Dangote Refinery is an enemy of Nigeria" and "NUPRC must comply with Section 109 of the Petroleum Industry Act."

They also demanded that N1.7 billion worth of feedstock be provided to the refinery.

AYCN Secretary, Mr. Naankin Sammani, who led the protest, emphasized the importance of supplying crude to the Dangote Refinery for the nation's economic well-being. "We are here to call the attention of the key players in the oil industry to give the necessary crude supply to Dangote Refinery.

The Dangote Refinery needs the encouragement of all Nigerians, especially the NUPRC," he stated.

Mr. Sammani further appealed to President Bola Tinubu to follow up on his directive to supply crude to Dangote in local currency.

"NUPRC must ensure that Dangote Refinery gets sufficient crude to ameliorate the sufferings of Nigerians," he added.

Despite the fervent protests, no officials from the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NUPRC) addressed the crowd.
