Nigerian singer Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, has made history by surpassing his compatriot Burna Boy on the Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart.

Asake's latest album, "Lungu Boy," debuted nine new songs on this week's chart, extending his total entries to an impressive 50. This remarkable achievement dethroned Burna Boy, who previously held the record for the most songs on the chart.

Asake's collaboration with American rapper Travis Scott on the track "Active" has also garnered massive attention.
The song catapulted from position 8 to number 1 on the Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart, marking a pivotal milestone for both artists. This ascent was fueled by a surge in streaming and sales metrics following the release of "Lungu Boy."
The Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart, which was launched in April 2022, has been predominantly dominated by Nigerian artists since its inception. Asake's recent success shows the growing influence and popularity of Afrobeats music on a global scale.
In addition to his latest triumph, Asake had previously reached a peak position of number 6 on the U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart with tracks like "Palazzo," a collaboration with Spinall, and his solo effort "Terminator."
Meanwhile, Travis Scott, a Texas-raised rapper, achieved his first number 1 on the U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart through his feature on "Active."
This latest development also saw "Active" dethrone Tyla’s "Water," which had maintained the top spot for 44 consecutive weeks.
Prior to "Water," Rema and Selena Gomez's "Calm Down" held a 58-week reign at number 1, making "Active" only the fourth song to reach the summit of the U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart in the past two years.
