Former U.S. President Barack Obama has once again showcased his eclectic musical taste with the release of his 2024 summer playlist, which prominently features Nigerian artists Tems and Rema.
This annual tradition, eagerly anticipated by music enthusiasts worldwide, highlights Obama's appreciation for a diverse range of genres and international talent.
Tems' soulful track "Love Me Jeje" from her debut album "Born In The Wild" is one of the standout selections. The song, which samples Seyi Sodimu and Shaffy Bello's classic of the same name, has been praised for its smooth, emotive delivery.

Tems has become a recurring feature on Obama's playlists, having previously made the list in 2022 with "Vibe Out" and in 2023 with her BET-winning single "Me & U."
Rema's energetic single "Yayo," from his sophomore album "HEIS," also earned a spot on the playlist. The track has topped charts in Greece and amassed over 60 million streams on Spotify. This marks Rema's second appearance on Obama's summer playlist, following his inclusion in 2019 with the hit single "Iron Man."
Obama's 2024 summer playlist is a testament to his broad musical interests, featuring a mix of contemporary hits and timeless classics.

Other notable tracks include Charli XCX's "365," Beyoncé's "Texas Hold 'Em," Shaboozey's Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit "A Bar Song (Tipsy)," Billie Eilish's "Chihiro," and 2Pac's "How Do U Want It" featuring K-Ci & JoJo.
In a recent interview, Obama credited his daughters, Sasha and Malia, for keeping his musical tastes current. "I get referrals from my daughters — which keeps me not stuck in the '80s," he said. This influence is evident in the diverse and contemporary nature of his playlist.
The former president shared his playlist on social media, writing, "With summer winding down, I wanted to share some songs that I’ve been listening to lately – and it wouldn’t be my playlist if it didn’t include an eclectic mix. I hope you find something new to listen to!"
