The Bayelsa State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reversed the suspension of several key party figures, including Heineken Lokpobiri, the Minister of State for Petroleum (Oil).

This decision was reached during an extended meeting involving state executive members, sitting state Assembly members, and local government chairmen.

The meeting focused on addressing the ongoing crisis related to the suspension of critical stakeholders in Southern Ijaw, Ekeremor, Sagbama, and Yenagoa local government areas.

The reversal of suspensions came after a plea from the minority caucus of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, who are the only elected members of the party from the state. Following extensive deliberations, the party's Executive Committee resolved to suspend the ratification of these suspensions to allow for further consultations with critical stakeholders, as advised by the APC caucus of the state House of Assembly.

A communique issued on October 15, 2024, and signed by the state chairman, Chief Dennis Otiotio-Odoni, and the acting State Secretary, Owutuamo Tamaranpreye, highlighted the party's decision.

It also condemned the actions of the state Commissioner for Power, Mr. Kharin Kumoko, who was accused of leading thugs to invade the APC State Secretariat with the intent to burn it down.

The communique stated, "We call on the Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, to caution the commissioner," and urged law enforcement to investigate the incident.
