Bayer Leverkusen has provided an update on the condition of their star striker, Victor Boniface, following a car accident that occurred after the team's 2-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt.

The incident took place on Sunday as Boniface was en route to the airport to pick up friends. His Mercedes Benz collided with an oncoming truck, but fortunately, he did not sustain any major injuries. According to the club, Boniface only suffered two minor injuries to his hand.

The 23-year-old Nigerian international had been instrumental in Leverkusen's win, scoring the decisive goal in the 72nd minute after missing a penalty earlier in the match.

Despite the severity of the crash, which left his car massively damaged, Boniface is reportedly doing well. He shared images and a video of the wrecked vehicle on social media, which have since been deleted.

A club source confirmed to Reuters that Boniface was a passenger in the car at the time of the accident and was taken to the hospital for treatment of his minor injuries.

In a post on X, Boniface expressed gratitude, stating, "God is the greatest." The Hessen state police reported that the accident was caused by the driver losing control of the vehicle due to fatigue, leading to a collision with a truck.

Bayer Leverkusen, currently fourth in the Bundesliga standings, will face French side Brest in the Champions League on Wednesday. Boniface has been a key player for the team this season, scoring seven goals in ten appearances across all competitions.
