Mr. Ewaoche Benjamin Obe, a former governorship candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the 2023 election in Benue State, recently faced an unexpected eviction from his own house in Abuja.
The property, located at the Sagwari Layout of Dutse, Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), was reportedly used as collateral by his wife, Christiana Obe, without his knowledge.

The incident unfolded while Obe was en route to Benue State. He received a distressing call informing him that security operatives had invaded his home and commenced the eviction process. Angered and shocked, Obe immediately turned back along the Keffi road in Nasarawa State to confront the situation.
Upon arrival, Obe was presented with court documents indicating that his house had been confiscated due to an outstanding loan taken by his wife. However, Obe claimed he had never been issued any prior court notice regarding the matter. His belongings were seen scattered across the street, with military personnel and police officers present at the scene.
In a Facebook live broadcast, Obe expressed his disbelief and frustration, stating, "She has done her worst. This is a house I built with my hard-earned money." He further revealed that he was unaware of the loan and had not been contacted by the lenders. Additionally, he mentioned that his wife had taken their son to a new apartment before the eviction.
Christiana, an officer of the Nigerian Air Force, had reportedly moved some of her belongings, including air-conditioners, out of the house prior to the eviction. When approached for comments, she declined to speak, stating, "I am not under any obligation to speak to anyone."
A family member, speaking anonymously, highlighted the sacrifices Obe had made for his wife, including supporting her education and career. They questioned the legality and morality of the eviction, suggesting that the court papers might be fake and calling for an investigation into the involved officers.
