Bobrisky: No One Will Be Spared - Nigerian Govt Says

Esther

The Nigerian government, represented by Minister of Interior Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has committed to penalizing all individuals implicated in the bribery scandal involving crossdresser Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky.

This declaration was made during a press conference marking the minister's first year in office.

The controversy arises from reports that Bobrisky, who was sentenced to prison earlier this year, did not serve his term in the correctional facility.

Consequently, the government suspended several senior officers of the Nigerian prisons service, including Michael Anugwa, Sikiru Adekunle, ASC II Ogbule Samuel Obinna, and Iloafonsi Kevin Ikechukwu.

Minister Tunji-Ojo emphasized the government's commitment to justice, stating, "We will not spare anybody no matter how highly placed. Let’s be patient. Investigation is on but let’s be assured that nobody will be shielded and nobody will be protected."

He further assured that the investigation would extend beyond the Bobrisky incident, addressing broader issues within the Nigerian correctional service, including bribery and corruption.

Tunji-Ojo urged Nigerians to be patient as the investigation proceeds, promising accountability for all involved. He highlighted the integrity of the investigation committee, saying, "Look at the integrity of the people that are involved. Let the integrity of the people in the committee give you confidence."
