Bobrisky Taken to Hospital Amid Ongoing Arrest Controversy

Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, a well-known Nigerian crossdresser and social media personality, has been hospitalized amid an ongoing arrest controversy.

On October 23, 2024, reports emerged that Bobrisky was rushed to a hospital following his arrest by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) at the Seme Border. The NIS had intercepted Bobrisky while he was allegedly attempting to flee the country, naming him "a person of interest" in an ongoing investigation.

Shortly after his arrest, Bobrisky developed an undisclosed ailment that required immediate medical attention. A source, who requested anonymity, disclosed that Bobrisky experienced a sudden rise in temperature along with other symptoms that have not been publicly revealed. The source stated, "He is currently receiving medical care. Once his health condition stabilizes, he will be taken to court and possibly freed."

The arrest stems from a series of legal issues that began in April 2024 when Bobrisky was sentenced to six months in prison for "naira abuse" after throwing banknotes around at a film premiere.

Although officially incarcerated at Kirikiri Prison, it was reported that Bobrisky spent only three weeks there before being discreetly moved to a private location, sparking speculation about bribery and preferential treatment.

The situation escalated further in late September 2024 when an audio recording allegedly involving Bobrisky surfaced, claiming that music artist Falz and his father, human rights lawyer Femi Falana, approached him during his imprisonment seeking N10m for a presidential pardon.

Both Falz and Falana issued a cease-and-desist letter demanding a retraction and public apology, which Bobrisky denied, urging them to hold the source of the leak accountable instead.
