A prominent figure within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bode George, has openly criticized Ayo Fayose, the former governor of Ekiti State. The criticism comes after Fayose expressed support for the re-election of Biodun Oyebanji, the current governor of Ekiti State and a member of the rival All Progressives Congress (APC).
During an appearance on Channels Television's "Politics Today," George questioned the appropriateness of Fayose's endorsement, suggesting that such actions warrant investigation. He stated, "If it is true that Governor Fayose openly rejected the party and stated that he is going to work for the APC governor, he has defined his direction."
Fayose had previously praised Governor Oyebanji's performance, acknowledging the challenges the PDP would face in unseating him in the upcoming 2026 governorship election. He remarked, "Governor Oyebanji has done exceedingly well," highlighting the difficulty for the PDP to secure a victory against him.
George emphasized the need for unity within the PDP, urging members to prioritize the party's collective interests over personal affiliations. He expressed disappointment over internal conflicts, stating, "The party’s interest must always come before personal interest for there to be lasting peace in the PDP."
