An Air India Boeing 787-800 aircraft en route from New Delhi to Birmingham was compelled to make an emergency landing at Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport on the evening of September 4th, 2024 due to technical issues.
The plane, which had been cruising for approximately six hours at an altitude of 40,000 feet, carried 258 passengers and 17 crew members.
The crew detected a potential problem in the cargo hold area, prompting them to request an unscheduled landing. The airport officials responded promptly, preparing to receive the aircraft according to the applicable emergency plan.
Fortunately, the plane landed safely at around 21:35 Moscow time (UTC+3), and all passengers and crew members were unharmed.
After undergoing thorough checks, the aircraft was deemed safe and continued its journey, arriving in Birmingham later that night.
