Victor Boniface delivered a stellar performance as Bayer Leverkusen triumphed over Hoffenheim with a 4-1 victory at the PreZero Arena in Sinsheim on Saturday.

The Nigerian striker scored twice and provided an assist, showcasing his exceptional skills and resilience following a previous adductor muscle injury that had sidelined him for much of the second half of last season.

Leverkusen, who had recently suffered a 3-2 defeat to RB Leipzig, bounced back impressively. They took control early in the match, with Boniface setting up Martin Terrier for a close-range goal in the 17th minute. Boniface then doubled the lead in the 30th minute, skillfully maneuvering past Hoffenheim's defense and firing low past goalkeeper Oliver Baumann.

Hoffenheim's Mergim Berisha, making his first appearance since a knee ligament tear, reduced the deficit to 2-1 in the 37th minute. However, Leverkusen regained their composure after the break. Florian Wirtz converted a penalty in the 72nd minute, and Boniface sealed the victory with another goal in the 75th minute, capping off a dazzling solo run.

Coach Xabi Alonso praised his team's resilience, stating, "It was an important test for us to not concede a second goal after going 2-0 up. We reacted well and this time we controlled the game better and were more stable until the end."

With this win, Leverkusen moved into the top four of the Bundesliga standings, demonstrating their deadly ability on the counterattack and their potential for the upcoming Champions League campaign against Feyenoord.
