Borno Flood: NAF Starts Airlift Operations of Essential Relief Materials to Victims

Esther

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has initiated critical airlift operations to deliver essential relief materials to victims of the devastating floods in Maiduguri and its surrounding communities.

This humanitarian effort is part of a broader national disaster response strategy aimed at alleviating the suffering caused by the floods, which have disrupted daily life, destroyed properties, and displaced millions.

In a statement released by Group Captain Kabiru Ali, Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information, it was revealed that the relief materials, donated by the Nigerian Customs Service, include 300 bags of 50kg rice.

These supplies were successfully transported by a NAF C-130 Hercules aircraft to NAF Base Maiduguri for house-to-house distribution. "The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, has directed that the operations continue as needed, ensuring that both relief materials and medical aid reach all affected areas," said Group Captain Ali.

"The NAF will persistently collaborate with other security agencies to mobilize human and material resources for the support of flood victims." In addition to the airlift missions, NAF has launched a medical outreach initiative to provide healthcare services to those affected by the floods.

The outreach program includes feeding over 2,000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), further highlighting the military's critical role in humanitarian crises.
