Burna Boy: Speed Darlington Released from Police Custody After Bail [VIDEO]

Esther

Controversial media personality Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, was released on bail from police custody.

This follows his arrest in Lagos and subsequent transfer to Abuja, triggered by a formal complaint from renowned musician Burna Boy. The complaint accused Darlington of defamation and cyberstalking.

The incident began when Speed Darlington publicly questioned Burna Boy's Grammy award win for his album "Twice As Tall."

In a viral video, Darlington taunted Burna Boy about his association with the embattled US rapper Sean 'Diddy' Combs, who is facing serious legal charges. This led to Darlington's discreet arrest by the police.

Human rights lawyer Deji Adeyanju confirmed Darlington's release after he met his bail conditions. Adeyanju expressed gratitude towards those who supported Darlington's release, including notable figures like #YeleSowore and senior lawyer #stanalieke. He also commended the professionalism of the police in the IRT department, stating, “Special appreciation to #YeleSowore, super reliable senior lawyer #stanalieke, and to all Nigerians for raising their voice for Speed Darlington. Must also appreciate Prof Sanusi and his team at IRT for their professionalism today.”
