The Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Tuesday made a pivotal decision to delist the Group D second-leg fixture of the 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifier between Nigeria and Libya.

This decision followed a series of controversies surrounding the match. The Super Eagles of Nigeria were initially scheduled to face the Mediterranean Knights of Libya on Tuesday, after having secured a narrow 1-0 victory in the first leg at Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, on the previous Friday.

The controversy erupted when the Nigerian delegation reported an ordeal lasting over 14 hours at the Libya airport, where they faced humiliation, prompting them to return home.

In response to these events, CAF announced that it had launched an investigation into the incident. Meanwhile, the Libya Football Federation accused Nigeria of sabotage and threatened legal action.

CAF's official communication channels, including its X handle, updated the list of games to be played on Tuesday, notably excluding the Libya versus Nigeria match. This development has sparked discussions and further investigations into the circumstances surrounding the delisting of this crucial AFCON qualifier.
