Canada has implemented new regulations as of November 15, 2024 allowing international students, including those from Nigeria, to work off-campus for up to 24 hours per week during academic sessions.
This change, announced by Marc Miller, Canada's Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship, marks an increase from the previous limit of 20 hours per week. The adjustment aims to provide students with greater flexibility in managing their time and gaining practical work experience while they study.

Miller emphasized that this policy shift is designed to help students acquire valuable Canadian work experience, thereby contributing to both short-term recovery and long-term prosperity in various sectors across the country.
The regulation also stipulates that students must meet other requirements for working while studying, ensuring compliance with their study permit conditions.
