International music icon Celine Dion has publicly criticized the unauthorized use of her hit song "My Heart Will Go On" at a political rally for former U.S. President Donald Trump in Montana.
The event, which took place on Friday, saw the Titanic theme song played as an interlude, much to the dismay of Dion and her management team.
In a statement posted on X (formerly known as Twitter), Dion's team made it clear that "in no way" was the usage of the song authorized. They emphasized, "Celine Dion does not endorse this or any similar use." The statement further expressed bewilderment, adding, "... And really, that song?"
The controversy erupted after Vice President Kamala Harris secured the Democratic nomination for the upcoming 2024 presidential election.
Both Dion's management and Sony Music Entertainment Canada Inc. were alerted to what they described as the "unauthorized usage of the video, recording, musical performance and likeness" of Celine Dion at the rally.
