King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain were met with hostility during their visit to the flood-stricken Valencia region.

The royal couple faced a barrage of mud and rocks thrown by a mob of flood victims, who shouted "Killers!" in protest of what they perceived as an inadequate government response to the devastating floods that claimed at least 205 lives.

The incident unfolded as the monarchs attempted to engage with the affected community, only to be met with shouts of "Get out! Get out!" from the enraged crowd. Bodyguards quickly deployed umbrellas to shield the royals from the debris, while police officers, some on horseback, struggled to maintain order.

The confrontation resulted in injuries to two bodyguards, one of whom was seen bleeding from the forehead. Despite the chaos, King Felipe persisted in his efforts to connect with the people, patting two young men on the back and sharing a brief embrace, even as mud stained his black raincoat.

Queen Letizia, visibly moved, broke into tears after speaking with several residents, including a woman who wept in her arms, lamenting, "We don’t have any water."

The violent reception forced the cancellation of a planned visit to another hard-hit village, Chiva, highlighting the growing frustration among Spaniards over the government's handling of the disaster.

Many residents remain without basic necessities such as drinking water, and internet and mobile phone coverage are still unreliable five days after the floods struck.
