City officials in Miami Beach are poised to rescind the symbolic "Key to the City" previously awarded to Sean "Diddy" Combs. This decision follows the rapper's recent arrest on September 17, 2024, in Manhattan, where he was charged with serious offenses including sex trafficking, forced labor, coercion to engage in prostitution, and narcotics distribution.

The charges have cast a shadow over Diddy's legacy, prompting Miami Beach authorities to reconsider the honor bestowed upon him.

The key was originally presented to Diddy by former Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine during the Revolt Music Conference at the Fontainebleau in 2015. However, the gravity of the allegations against him has led to this unprecedented move by the city.

The process of rescinding the key is currently underway, although the exact date for its finalization remains uncertain due to the impending threat of Hurricane Milton, which is expected to make landfall soon.

Diddy's legal troubles have been mounting, with federal prosecutors accusing him of a years-long scheme to exploit women sexually, allegedly using his business empire to facilitate these crimes.

The indictment mentions Miami twice, highlighting the city's connection to the charges against him. Despite pleading not guilty, Diddy remains behind bars in New York as he awaits trial.
