The Zamfara State Government, through its Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Abdulmalik Gajam, has firmly denied allegations circulating on social media that ₦19 billion had been budgeted for Governor Dauda Lawal’s kitchenware.
During a media briefing in Gusau, Gajam described the information as "mischievous" and unverified, emphasizing that such false reports could provoke unnecessary reactions among the people of Zamfara.

Gajam clarified, “A government that reduced its spending to save for the better future of the state cannot budget ₦19 billion for the governor’s kitchen and other canteen equipment.”
He highlighted that the current administration under Governor Lawal is committed to transparency and fiscal responsibility, operating an open-door policy that welcomes scrutiny from media and stakeholders.
The commissioner urged media houses to verify their information before publication to avoid spreading misinformation.
The commissioner also pointed out that the 2024 "Budget of Rescue" aims to generate more revenue while minimizing expenditure, ensuring that all public funds are used in the best interest of the state's citizens.
He reiterated the administration's dedication to transparency and accountability, inviting any media outfit to scrutinize their operations sincerely.
