A British couple, Bradley Smith and Antonia Sullivan, were escorted off an EasyJet flight recently after being caught performing a sexual act in public. The incident occurred during a 7 am flight from Tenerife, Spain, to Bristol, UK.
According to witnesses, the couple began their explicit act shortly after take-off, with Bradley seated in 16A and Antonia in 16B. They attempted to conceal their actions by arranging coats over Bradley's lap, but their behavior was noticed by several passengers, including a mother and her teenage daughter sitting behind them.
Prosecutor Maree Doyle recounted the events at the Bristol magistrates' court, stating, "After a few minutes, the witness was aware that the couple had re-arranged some coats over Smith’s lap and there followed vigorous hand movements beneath the coat." Despite Antonia's initial claim that she was merely rubbing her boyfriend's leg, the couple was removed from the plane by police for questioning.
Both Bradley, 22, and Antonia, 20, pleaded guilty to one count of outraging public decency by committing a sexual act in a public place. They were ordered to pay £100 (approximately ₹11,000 INR) as compensation to each of the three witnesses. Additionally, Bradley was sentenced to 300 hours of community work, while Antonia received 270 hours.
Judge Lynne Matthews admonished the couple, saying, "You had no regard for the feelings of other passengers. There was a child sitting behind you who was able to see what was happening. Who do you think you are and what right do you think entitled you to behave in that way in full view of people on that flight?"
