Nigerian music superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, is set to mark his 32nd birthday on November 21, 2024, with a generous donation of ₦300 million to orphanages across Nigeria.
This philanthropic gesture will also extend to a charity focused on combating drug abuse and addiction among young people. The announcement was made via Davido's verified X account, where he stated, "Once again, my birthday this year, we are donating to orphanages and a charity that helps young people stay away from drug abuse and addiction. This year, it’s ₦300m. Details to follow soon."
This initiative continues Davido's tradition of using his birthday as an opportunity to give back to society. In previous years, the artist has made major contributions to various charitable causes. Notably, in July 2023, through his David Adeleke Foundation (DAF), he donated ₦237 million to 424 orphanages, benefiting 13,818 children.
The foundation, established in 2022, aims to provide a framework for Davido's charitable works, significantly improving the lives of countless children across Nigeria.
Davido's commitment to philanthropy has been consistent over the years. In November 2021, he donated ₦250 million to 292 orphanages in celebration of his 29th birthday.
