A 51-year-old undomiciled man, Ramon Rivera in a tragic incident that unfolded in Manhattan on November 18, 2024, was charged with three counts of murder in the first degree following a random stabbing spree.

The attacks began in the Chelsea neighborhood and concluded near East 46th Street and 1st Avenue. The first victim, Angel Lata Landi, aged 36, was fatally stabbed in the abdomen at 8:22 a.m. while working at a construction site on West 19th Street.

Approximately two hours later, a 68-year-old man was repeatedly stabbed on East 30th Street; his identity remains undisclosed pending family notification.

The third victim, a 36-year-old woman, was attacked around 10:55 a.m. at 42nd Street and First Avenue. She sustained multiple stab wounds to the chest and arm and was transported to New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where she later died from her injuries.

The suspect, who had been residing at the Bellevue Men's Shelter on East 30th Street, appeared to select his victims at random. He was apprehended by police shortly after the attacks. Chief of Detectives Joe Kenny stated, "He just walked up to them and began to attack them with the knives."

Mayor Eric Adams highlighted concerns about Rivera's presence on the streets, given his severe mental health challenges and history of eight prior arrests. Two bloody kitchen knives were recovered at the scene, and authorities confirmed that no other suspects are being sought in connection with these heinous acts.
