Lawmaker Oboro Preyor has been suspended for alleged gross misconduct.
This marks the third suspension of a lawmaker in just three months, indicating potential internal conflicts or governance challenges within the Assembly.
The suspension was enacted following a motion moved by Majority Leader Emeka Nwaobi, representing Aniocha North, and seconded by Mathew Omonade from Ughelli North 1 constituency.
Speaker Emomotimi Guwor, upon adopting the motion, directed the Sergeant-At-Arms to escort Preyor out of the chamber.
"An adhoc committee will be established to thoroughly investigate the issues leading to this suspension," announced Speaker Guwor, emphasizing the Assembly's commitment to maintaining discipline and accountability.
Preyor's suspension is set for 14 legislative days, during which the adhoc committee will delve into the specifics of the alleged misconduct.
This disciplinary action underscores the Assembly's ongoing efforts to address internal governance issues and uphold its standards.
In a related development, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is poised to present the 2025 Appropriation Bill to the Assembly on Thursday, November 14.
