Former US President Donald Trump has issued a stern warning, promising to prosecute election officials and political operatives if he wins the 2024 presidential election.
Trump, who has consistently alleged that Democrats engaged in fraudulent activities during the 2020 election, made this declaration on his social network, Truth Social, and X.
In his post, Trump stated, "WHEN I WIN, those people that CHEATED will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the Law." He emphasized that these prosecutions would include "long-term prison sentences" to ensure that such "Depravity of Justice does not happen again."
Trump's threats come as early voting is set to begin in several American states. He has been vocal about his intentions to use the justice system against his political adversaries if re-elected.
"I know, better than most, the rampant Cheating and Skullduggery that has taken place by the Democrats in the 2020 Presidential Election. It was a Disgrace to our Nation!" he added.
The former president also warned that legal repercussions would extend to "Lawyers, Political Operatives, Donors, Illegal Voters, & Corrupt Election Officials." He assured that those involved in unscrupulous behavior would be "sought out, caught, and prosecuted at levels, unfortunately, never seen before in our Country."
This announcement comes amid ongoing legal challenges for Trump, who faces charges over efforts to overturn the 2020 election results.
These include a four-count indictment in his federal case and a separate election interference case in Fulton County, Georgia, which has been indefinitely paused.
