leksol

The Department of State Services (DSS) in Nigeria arrested Adejuwon Soyinka, an investigative journalist and Regional Editor of The Conversation Africa.

Soyinka, who previously worked with the BBC, was detained upon his arrival at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. He had just landed from the United Kingdom on a Virgin Atlantic flight.

The reasons for Soyinka's arrest remain undisclosed and attempts to contact him have been unsuccessful. Calls and messages to his phone have gone unanswered, raising concerns about his whereabouts and well-being.

This incident is part of a broader pattern of DSS activities aimed at addressing national security threats. Recently, the DSS has issued warnings about the dangers posed by AI-enabled cyber-attacks and digital manipulations.

Additionally, the agency has been involved in various operations, including the arrest of seven Polish nationals in Kano amid ongoing protests.
