Operatives from Nigeria's Department of State Services (DSS) stormed the Abuja office of the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP), a prominent human rights organization.
The DSS agents demanded to meet with the organization's directors, as disclosed by SERAP through their official social media channels.
The raid comes on the heels of SERAP's public appeal to President Bola Tinubu, urging him to direct the National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to reverse the high pump price of premium motor spirit (PMS).
This appeal has evidently not gone unnoticed by the authorities.
In a post on their official X handle, SERAP stated, "Officers from Nigeria’s State Security Service (SSS) are presently unlawfully occupying SERAP’s office in Abuja, asking to see our directors.
President Tinubu must immediately direct the SSS to end the harassment, intimidation, and attack on the rights of Nigerians."
