The recent Edo State governorship election has sparked considerable controversy, with the All Progressives Congress (APC) labeling Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, as a "serial complainer" who consistently rejects any election outcomes that do not favor him or his supported candidates. This assertion was made by APC's National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, during an interview with Arise TV.

Morka emphasized that Obi's dissatisfaction with the Edo State election results is inconsequential, stating, "Peter Obi is a serial complainer who will not accept the result of any election that is not in his favour or candidates that he supports." He further criticized Obi for his ongoing denial of the 2023 presidential election results and accused him of adopting a new "pet project" to discredit the Edo State election.

The APC's stance comes in the wake of the Edo State governorship election, where their candidate, Monday Okpebholo, emerged victorious with 291,667 votes. In contrast, LP's Olumide Akpata garnered 22,763 votes, and Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) received 247,274 votes.

Morka urged those dissatisfied with the election outcome, including Akpata and Ighodalo, to seek legal recourse and substantiate their allegations with concrete evidence.

He remarked, "I think Akpata and Ighodalo have a legitimate interest in that election and if they are not satisfied, they should do what they must do which is to head to court and prove the allegations that they are handling around now."

This situation shows the persistent political tensions and the procedural avenues available for contesting disputed election results. The APC's call for legal action highlights the importance of evidence-based claims in the judicial process, as Morka pointed out, "When you get to court, it’s not about the headlines; you must break it down to realistic evidence to support your argument of winning the elections."
