In the Edo State governorship election, Senator Adams Oshiomhole delivered a resounding victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) at his polling unit.
The APC candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, garnered an impressive 403 votes. In stark contrast, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) managed to secure just one vote, while Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party recorded zero votes.
The election day was marked by significant challenges, including delays caused by heavy rain and the late arrival of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials and materials. Despite these setbacks, voting proceeded as scheduled in several areas, including Ward 10, Polling Unit 1, Etsako West Local Government Area, where Oshiomhole cast his vote.
Oshiomhole attributed the high voter turnout to the APC's strong governance record, dismissing allegations of vote-buying as "laughable." He stated, “People turned out in large numbers to vote for us because they want good government.
During our campaign, people came out to see me not because I wanted to give them something, but because of what I have done for them while I was in office as the governor.”
