Edo Guber: Some Political Parties are Buying Votes - Ighodalo Alleges

Esther

In the ongoing Edo State governorship election, Barrister Asue Ighodalo, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has raised serious allegations of vote-buying by certain political parties.

According to Ighodalo, these parties are offering sums of N15,000 and N20,000 to sway voters. He made these claims shortly after casting his vote at ward 1, unit 3, in Okaigben Idinrio, Esan South-East LGA. "The worst is that they go round trying to buy votes. They buy votes for N15,000 and N20,000. They are trying everything to subvert the process," Ighodalo stated. Despite these challenges, he remains optimistic about his chances of winning and is committed to advancing the state.

Ighodalo also pointed out instances where PDP supporters and chieftains were arrested, suggesting a bias from law enforcement agencies. "How come it’s only PDP supporters that have been arrested? Everyday you see APC supporters doing imaginable things. But nobody arrests them. Nobody investigates them," he questioned.

Additionally, Ighodalo commended the Nigerian military for their efforts in protecting the electorate and ensuring a fair electoral process. "The Nigerian military has made me proud. They have taken charge and have shown great responsibility.

They have shown that they can protect the people and I am extremely proud," he added.
