PDP candidate Asue Ighodalo has raised serious concerns about alleged irregularities, describing it as potentially the "worst election in the history of this country."
Ighodalo accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of violating the Electoral Act by truncating the collation process, which he believes could compromise the integrity of the election.
During a press conference at his party's Situation Room in Benin City, Edo State capital, Ighodalo claimed that PDP agents were denied access to some local government collation centers. He flagged discrepancies where accredited voters were fewer than the total votes in over 20 polling units. "We have information for instance, where we have over 20 polling units where the accredited voters are less than the total votes which is not possible," he stated.
Ighodalo also highlighted instances of result manipulation and efforts to disenfranchise collation agents. "There’s something definitely going wrong.
There’s a result writing scheme going on and it’s totally unacceptable," he said. He further alleged that APC thugs, supported by individuals dressed as security agents, disrupted polling processes by shooting at polling agents.
