The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the collation of results for the Edo State governorship election, held on Saturday, September 21, will begin at 10am on Sunday, September 22.

This announcement was made by Dr. Anugbum Omuoha, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Edo State, who assured the public that the process would be conducted with full transparency and in line with the commission’s existing regulations.

“This is to inform the general public, stakeholders, and observers that the collation of results for the ongoing Edo State governorship election will resume today, Sunday, September 22, at 10am,” stated Dr. Omuoha. He reiterated the commission’s commitment to ensuring the collation process follows the laid down guidelines, adding, “We appreciate the patience and cooperation of the parties as we strive to ensure a credible and accurate outcome of this important election.”

Despite these assurances, the atmosphere surrounding the election remains tense. There have been protests from both PDP and APC members over alleged manipulation.

Notably, Governor Obaseki was reportedly forced out of the INEC office and his presence at the collation center has sparked further controversy.

Dr. Omuoha appealed to all stakeholders to remain calm and orderly, stressing that INEC remains dedicated to delivering a free, fair and transparent election in Edo State.
