The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of Nigeria has dismissed two staff members following allegations of corruption.

This announcement was made by the EFCC Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, during the 6th Annual Criminal Law Review Conference held in Abuja.

Mr. Olukoyede emphasized the importance of maintaining clean hands in the fight against corruption, stating, "You can’t be fighting corruption and your hands are dirty.

He who comes to equity, your hands must also be clean." He further revealed that these dismissals occurred two weeks ago and highlighted that future erring employees would not only face dismissal but also prosecution.

"I will not only be dismissing them, I will also be prosecuting them because that is what we prosecute others for," he asserted.

The EFCC Chairman shared his personal experience of being under investigation for two years while serving as the EFCC secretary, showing the necessity of integrity in legal practice.

He also mentioned ongoing reforms within the commission aimed at enhancing effectiveness and accountability, including a directive to limit prosecution charges to a maximum of 15 counts to streamline legal processes.
