General Christopher Musa, Nigeria's Chief of Defence Staff, delivered a scathing critique of Simon Ekpa, a prominent Biafra agitator.

Ekpa, who leads the Biafra Republic Government in Exile (BRGIE), has been detained by Finnish authorities on charges related to terrorism.

His arrest follows allegations that he orchestrated violent sit-at-home protests in Nigeria's Southeast, aimed at securing the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

General Musa highlighted the detrimental impact of Ekpa's actions on the region's economy, stating, "Ekpa’s activities have been troublesome for the Southeast and have now affected the region’s economy."

He condemned Ekpa for living a life of luxury abroad while inciting violence back home, noting, "He is having fun, enjoying himself, partying and doing all sorts yet pushing people to kill themselves."

The Nigerian military played a crucial role in Ekpa's arrest by providing evidence to Finnish authorities.

General Musa expressed satisfaction with this development, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation in addressing such security challenges.

He remarked, "They understand that keeping him there is a minus for them," referring to the Finnish government's decision to detain Ekpa.

Musa also discussed the complexities of dealing with non-state actors like Ekpa, who are driven by ideologies rather than conventional warfare tactics.

He stressed the need for community support and advanced technology to effectively counter these threats, saying, "Human intelligence for us in asymmetric warfare is critical.

That’s why I said you must get the buying in of the communities."
