Maye Musk, the mother of tech mogul Elon Musk, has been accused of promoting voter fraud.

The allegations arose after she suggested using "10 fake names" to vote in a U.S. election. Her comments were made on X, the social media platform owned by her son, in response to his encouragement for followers to register to vote.

Maye Musk's post, which read, "On Election Day, have 10 fake names, go to 10 polling booths and vote 10 times. That’s 100 votes, and it’s not illegal. Maybe we should work the system too," was quickly flagged by the platform as "illegal."

The community note attached to her post included a link to the U.S. Code, clarifying that voting more than once intentionally is federally prohibited.

The incident has drawn widespread criticism from social media users and legal professionals alike.

One lawyer responded, "This tweet constitutes the solicitation of a crime and is in itself a fully completed criminal act. If at least one person acts on your solicitation, you could also be charged with conspiracy. You should retract this tweet immediately."
