The Kano State Police Command has prosecuted 600 out of the 873 suspects arrested during the recent "End Bad Governance" protests.
These protests saw widespread destruction and looting of government and public properties in Kano.
The State Police Commissioner, Salman Dogo Garba, provided detailed insights into the arrests and subsequent prosecutions.
"The arrested protesters were charged with various offences, including criminal conspiracy, inciting disturbance, riot, theft, mischief, and arson," Garba stated during a press briefing on Monday.
Among the prosecuted individuals, 150 were specifically charged for violating the curfew imposed by the Kano State Government.
Additionally, six suspects are currently under investigation for their alleged roles in the destruction and looting of the Kano Printing Press (KPP).
Garba also revealed that 76 suspects, including a foreigner, were transferred to Force Headquarters in Abuja for further investigation on charges of sedition.
"We have also arrested 41 suspects for other major crimes such as armed robbery, kidnapping, car theft, and other offences," he added.
The police have made recoveries from the looted properties, including two AK-47 rifles and other substantial items taken from locations like the Audu Bako Secretariat, NCC Office, High Court Complexes, KPP, and various supermarkets.
Despite the extensive damage, Garba confirmed, "We are not aware of any lives lost during the problems."
In addition to the protest-related arrests, the police have apprehended four kidnapping suspects, five armed robbers, eight suspected car thieves, and two human trafficking suspects.
They also detained 23 suspected thugs, known locally as Yan Daba.
The recovered items include four AK-47 rifles, one Beretta pistol, 47 live ammunition, eight motor vehicles, four sacks of Exol tablets, and two Bajaj Boxer motorcycles.
Furthermore, the police recovered 22 cows, 15 sheep, and four donkeys.
