EndBadGovernance Protest: 7 Polish Nationals Released by Nigeria Police

Seven Polish nationals, including students and a teacher from the University of Warsaw, have been released by Nigerian authorities after being detained during the EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest in Kano.

The group was initially arrested on suspicion of displaying Russian flags during the demonstration. Poland's Foreign Minister, Radoslaw Sikorski, confirmed their release via X (formerly Twitter), stating, "I would like to confirm that the young people are already free, back in Kano, on campus, with passports. I think the young people received an accelerated lesson in African studies… I hope they will be back in the country soon."

The arrest had sparked diplomatic tensions, with Polish authorities asserting that the individuals were merely in the "wrong place at the wrong time."

They emphasized that the detainees were university students and a teacher who had no involvement in the protest's political activities.
