The Abuja Federal High Court, the Nigerian government has moved to remove protesters associated with the EndBadGovernanceInNigeria movement from the court premises.

This action followed a decision by Justice Obiora Egwuatu to strike out the suit, a move that came after an application by M. D. Abubakar, counsel to the Attorney General of the Federation, to take over and discontinue the case.

The Director of Public Prosecution of the Federation, Mohammed Abubakar, exercised his powers under Section 174 of the 1999 Constitution to assume control of the case from the Inspector General of Police.

Upon granting this request, Justice Egwuatu also accepted the Attorney General’s invocation of the same section to discontinue the trial of the 119 accused persons.

According to reports, "76 people were arrested in Kano and Kaduna states and detained for hoisting the Russian flag during the EndBadGovernance protest."

These individuals faced charges of attempting to overthrow President Tinubu.

The situation took a dramatic turn when 29 minors among those arrested fainted during their arraignment, reportedly due to malnutrition, highlighting concerns about detainee welfare.
