England and Brentford Star Ivan Toney 'Agrees to Join Al-Ahli in £40m Move'

England and Brentford striker Ivan Toney has agreed to join Al-Ahli after reaching an agreement with the Saudi club.

The transfer fee for this move is set at £40 million ($53 million), and Toney has agreed to a lucrative three-year contract. This deal marks a major moment in Toney's career, as he transitions from the Premier League to the Saudi Pro League.

Toney, who has scored 72 goals in 141 appearances for Brentford, was filmed by Sky Sports News arriving for his medical in London on Deadline Day.

Despite strong interest from top English clubs like Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur, no Premier League move materialized for Toney.

His recent form, particularly after returning from an eight-month ban for breaching the Football Association’s betting rules, may have influenced this outcome. He managed to score only four goals in 17 Premier League appearances last season.

Al-Ahli's acquisition of Toney is part of a broader strategy to elevate the Saudi Pro League's profile. The club has already signed former Premier League stars Riyad Mahrez, Roberto Firmino, and Edouard Mendy. Toney's arrival is expected to bolster their attacking options significantly, especially when compared to their current striker, Firas Al-Buraikan.

Brentford, on the other hand, will benefit financially from this deal, particularly given Toney's contractual situation, with less than a year remaining on his contract.

The club had been reluctant to let him leave on a free transfer next summer. Brentford's manager, Thomas Frank, confirmed that Toney would not be part of the matchday squad for their upcoming game against Southampton.
