The Pinnacle Oil filling station in Enugu State, Nigeria, owned by Governor Peter Mbah set ablaze by unknown gunmen. According to reports unknown assailants arrived in a Toyota Corolla early Friday morning and set the station ablaze.
The fire affected at least four cars within the vicinity. The Agbani Road leading to the station was promptly barricaded by fire service personnel and security operatives to manage the situation.
The Enugu State Police Command confirmed the incident, initially attributing it to a fuel leakage from one of the vehicles queued for fuel.
In a statement issued by DSP Daniel Ndukwe, the Police Public Relations Officer, he noted, “A preliminary investigation suggests that the fire may have been caused by fuel leakage from one of the vehicles buying fuel at the station.” Fortunately, no lives were lost in the incident, although three vehicles were torched.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, who led police operatives to the scene, has ordered a full-scale investigation into the incident to determine the exact cause and identify those responsible.
