Ex-President Of Bolivia Morales Survives Alleged Assassination Attempt

Former President Evo Morales has claimed that his life was targeted in an assassination attempt.

According to Morales, gunmen fired 14 shots at his vehicle while he was en route to a radio interview in Cochabamba, leaving his driver injured.

The windshield of the car reportedly had three bullet holes, and the driver was seen with blood on his head.

Morales, who served as Bolivia's president from 2006 until 2019, accused the current president, Luis Arce, of orchestrating the attack. "This was planned.

The idea was to kill Evo," Morales stated, directly implicating Arce, a former ally turned political rival. Morales further alleged, "Lucho has destroyed Bolivia and now he wants to eliminate our process by killing Evo."

The incident comes amid heightened political tensions in Bolivia. Morales, despite being barred from running in the upcoming 2025 presidential elections, remains a significant figure in Bolivian politics.

He is currently under investigation for serious charges, including rape, human trafficking, and smuggling, which he denies. His supporters have been actively protesting these allegations by blocking major roads across the country for two weeks.

In response to the unrest, President Arce has recently overhauled the military leadership, a move he describes as necessary to restore order.

However, this restructuring has done little to quell the accusations against him, with Morales' allies suggesting that the military changes are linked to the alleged assassination attempt.
