Mikel Arteta has solidified his future with Arsenal by signing a new three-year contract, extending his tenure until 2027. The 42-year-old Spaniard, who took over as head coach in December 2019, has been instrumental in transforming the club into a formidable force in the Premier League.

Under his leadership, Arsenal has achieved consecutive second-place finishes in the league and secured a return to the Champions League.

Arteta's journey with Arsenal began on December 20, 2019, when he was appointed head coach. His first match in charge was a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth, but he quickly made his mark by leading the team to an FA Cup victory in his debut season.

This triumph made him the first person to win the FA Cup as both captain and coach of Arsenal. He also guided the team to a Community Shield win against Liverpool in August 2020.

Despite facing challenges, including a rocky start to the 2021-22 season, Arteta's resilience paid off. He received multiple Premier League Manager of the Month awards and led Arsenal to their best start in a top-flight campaign during the 2022-23 season.

Notably, he became the second-quickest manager to reach 50 top-flight wins for Arsenal, following in the footsteps of Arsène Wenger.

Arteta's new contract reflects the club's commitment to his vision and leadership. Co-chair Josh Kroenke praised Arteta's dynamic and passionate approach, emphasizing his deep understanding of Arsenal's values.

Sporting Director Edu echoed these sentiments, highlighting Arteta's qualities as both a football manager and a person with wonderful values.

As Arteta approaches the half-decade mark at Arsenal, he is already the sixth longest-tenured manager in the Premier League. His extension marks the beginning of a pivotal period for the club, with upcoming matches against Tottenham and Manchester City.

Arteta expressed his pride and excitement for the future, acknowledging the transformative impact of the supporters and the strong relationships within the club.
