Explosion Rocks Rivers State Few Hours Ahead of LG Polls [VIDEO]

Esther

Just hours before the local government elections in Rivers State, the explosion rocked the All Progressives Congress (APC) secretariat in Port Harcourt.

The blast, suspected to be caused by dynamites, inflicted damage on the main gate, security house, and parts of an adjoining building.

This incident has raised serious concerns about the security situation in the region during election periods. Chief Tony Okocha, the state caretaker committee chairman for the APC, confirmed the attack and accused supporters of Governor Siminalayi Fubara of orchestrating the assault.

Okocha stated, “At the wee hours of Saturday, pro-Fubara civilian soldiers detonated dynamites at our office.” He further noted that a subsequent attempt to set the building ablaze was thwarted by quick action from the security personnel on site..
